Totally agree with Rick Fisher, although I suspect for different reasons.
Back in 2007, when I was introducing a blogging platform into the Brussels Bubble (the EUropean equivalent of the Beltway), I did everything I could to get Eurosceptics (who liken the EU to the USSR) to blog on it.
I failed - and was called a Hitler apologist for my trouble:
However, in the process I was able to significantly improve the platform and establish it as a neutral space where people of every political colour could express an opinion of where the European Union was going.

Why? Because political polarisation creates groupthink creates more polarisation, which prevents ideas from circulating and developing.
Pumping resources into ensuring one side of US politics is overrepresented on Medium is bad for US politics, and bad for Medium.
