I really like Medium’s triple-barreled commenting system, but for now the response system only really encourages one-on-one dialogues between an author and his/her commenters. It’s true that the inline commenting allows nested comments, but I have yet to see a real conversation take off in those margins.

As I mentioned a few months ago, I miss the multi-person conversation that more traditional blogging systems allow. While Medium allows a series of “idea dates” between two individuals, there’s nothing like a good dinner party conversation, where people who haven’t met before assemble to discuss a post with the author and each other.

But I’m sure they’ll figure that one out ;)
